TAO is the money. A subnet is a shop doing one AI job. You can park TAO (safer, it stays TAO) or stake it on a shop (a bet — the price can move).
Worth a look
Ready?
Same gold button as on a shop card. Connect, pick park or a shop, tap Stake.
A shop is a subnet. Tap Stake to put TAO on it. Tap Read first if you want the brief.
Park TAO (safer) or pick a shop, then tap the gold button.
Your book
We only receive a public address. Never a seed.
or paste a public address — read only, cannot sign

How this becomes a business
You tap Stake. Nova or Talisman asks you to approve. TAO leaves your free balance and sits with a validator. On a shop it becomes that shop’s token; on Root it stays TAO. The validator’s fee is named before you sign. When Brief runs its own hotkey, this list locks to us.
The 100 τ bars below are a walkthrough, not your money. Your real book is above, after you connect. Stake is the gold button.
TAO is the money. A subnet is a shop. Staking is putting your TAO on a shop — or parking it so it stays TAO.
Phone and site
This is the site: a link you can open in any browser. On a phone it is also an app — Add to Home Screen (iPhone: Share → Add to Home Screen; Android: Install). No App Store, no seed. The Stake tab is where TAO actually moves.
Trust, before a single τ moves
- We never ask for a seed phrase, private key, or wallet JSON. If a screen ever does, it is not this app.
- Lookup is a GET to a public indexer. Your address is already on the chain; we do not “collect” it as an account.
- Stake is a wallet-signed extra. The confirmation names the fee. We do not hand you to taostats to do it.
- Past APY is a backward-looking estimate. It is not guaranteed. You can lose TAO. Brief is not liable for your extras or losses.
- Briefs are editorial. Live prices are chain data. We label claimed revenue so it cannot hide as fact.
The three jobs
- Miners do the work: inference, GPUs, forecasts, agents, science.
- Validators test that work and submit scores. Those scores become rewards.
- Owners write the rules of the shop. They take about 18% of subnet emissions; miners and validators split the rest.
Why staking feels like venture, not yield
When you stake TAO into a subnet you swap into that subnet’s alpha token. You can earn more alpha and still lose TAO if the shop’s price falls. Root staking is the conservative park. Direct subnet staking is an active bet on one team’s market.
The six questions that matter
- Is there a live product a stranger can use today?
- Do customers pay in dollars, or only in emissions?
- Can anyone outside the team verify usage (OpenRouter, Polymarket, a public dashboard)?
- Is the team public, shipping, and still around?
- Is liquidity thick enough that you can exit without wrecking the pool?
- Is the owner selling alpha faster than the product is earning?
Most of the 128 shops fail several of those. A handful pass. That gap is the whole market.
Do not build another explorer
taostats, TaoMarketCap, SubnetAIQ, SubnetRadar, SubnetStats, and TAOFlute already cover prices, explorers, health scores, and whale tape. A prettier table is not a business — it is a Bitcoin block explorer in 2012: useful, crowded, and hard to charge for.
Bittensor is early in the same way Bitcoin was early: TAO is the bet on the network, and most of the money in the next phase goes to picks-and-shovels that sit on flow (stake, inference, attention), not on screenshots of the chain.
Where we actually get paid
- Validator desk (primary, Bitcoin-pool analog). Most TAO is still parked because picking among 128 shops feels like becoming a VC. The needed service is a conservative sleeve plus a research sleeve, executed through a validator we run or partner with. Revenue is the protocol commission on dividends — already native, already how the chain pays judges. The UI is customer acquisition, not the SKU. See the Stake tab.
- Front door to using a subnet (merchant analog). Charge people who do not care about TAO: inference, authenticity checks, coding agents. Chutes, Ridgeline, and Dippy are the pattern. Analytics is the wedge; usage is the company.
- Do not sell the map. Paid pro dashboards exist and will keep existing. Competing with free taostats on columns is how you work for free. Do not send people there to stake, either — that trains the habit of allocating TAO in someone else's product.

You do not need to finish this guide. Connect, pick park or a shop, tap the gold button.
Not financial advice. Past APY is not a promise. Emissions, alpha prices, and teams change fast. You sign every extra. Brief never holds keys and is not liable for your activity. Briefs are dated August 2026. Live numbers come from the public Metagraphed registry (metagraph.sh).
